At our 20 week pregnancy scan we were excited to find out we were having a little girl. Everything looked fine to us but the lady performing the scan turned and said ‘normally I can tell parents their baby is growing okay, unfortunately I cannot’ we were then rushed into a side room until a doctor came to meet us. He performed another ultrasound for what seemed like forever in silence.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We were sat down and told our little girl had short bowed femurs and they were showing fractures throughout. We were told she most likely had a lethal type of osteogenesis imperfecta and were advised to end the pregnancy as she most likely wouldn’t survive full term. We decided against this as we wanted to meet the little princess regardless. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The day of our c section we didn’t know what to expect. We were told she would most likely be very small and need a lot of support breathing.She came out fighting and crying all by herself weighing a chunky 7lb 8oz even being 2 weeks early! She spent a few weeks in the nicu recovering as she suffered fractured femurs and ribs from child birth. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Life with Lottie isn’t easy things are different and she has suffered fractures just from being handled but she’s the strongest little fighter I know and we wouldn’t change her for the world ❤️.
