I grew up in a home where I was the oldest of 17 children. My parents adopted many children with special needs. One of my sisters, Bonnie, was born with Cornelia de Lange syndrome. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Growing up in such away inspired my husband and I to grow our family through adoption as well. After having two biological sons we adopted two daughters with special needs. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Last year the adoption agency called to share that there was a baby with CdLS in need of a loving home. This baby became our Hannah. She has many medical issues such as severe hearing impairment, visual impairment, gastrointestinal issues which require her to eat mainly through a G-tube, GERD, heart defect, amongst other minor issues. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Reading about Hannah on paper is scary. However, knowing her in real life is to know love and happiness. She is our sun and moon. She has taught us to take the chance, because the reward can be great.
