I was expecting twins November 17th, 2022. During the pregnancy I was told one of the twins had a high risk of having Downs syndrome. My whole pregnancy I was considered “high risk.” The twins ended up being born a month early, & stayed in the NICU for a couple weeks. I was then told both of the twins had SMA Type 1. I had no idea what this was. Fast forward a few months later, I then learned how rare my son was. Doctors had told me he is the first baby in the world with both diagnosis of SMA type 1 & trisomy 21. I have read up on Ginas story, and what we’ve gone through as parents is so similar. I really would like to advocate my sons story and share with the world. As a parent in such a rare case, I feel like there is a higher calling for my son, I just haven’t been able to put my finger on it. Please contact me for more details!
